What is Carbon Dioxide?
act 5: Denouement
What I liked best about the project is that I got to learn more about Carbon Dioxide that I never knew before. Doing more research about it made me realize that it is not only used by humans as something that we breathe in our atmoshpere, but there are many uses, properties, and characteristics that make up carbon dioxide.
The most interesting thing I learned about my eMolecule is that it can be used in the industry, environment, and for health. I did not know before that it it used by food industries to make carbonated beverages such as sodas and mineral water. What surprised me is that carbon dioxide can be used for healthcare such as that as dry ice, it can be used to transport and preserve tissues at low temperatures which is necessary for transplants.
My eMolecule taught me that Chemistry is so fascinating. It also taught me that molecules like carbon dioxide do have properties and characteristics that we are taught in class. For example, carbon dioxide is an inorganic molecule that has polar bonds and is linear in structure. It helped better understand the material that we are learning in class.
This project helped see the relevance of chemistry in my everyday life in that now when I look at the nature, I remember now how carbon dioxide plays an important role in photosynthesis and global warming. When I drink soda I remember that is is produced by carbon dioxide and that it creates the foam in it.
If I could experiment with my eMolecule, I would try to figure out if it can be used in other ways that can help humankind or the Earth. It would be nice if it can benefit in other uses.
